In 1965, Rev. Robert Mayo commissioned me to build a walnut desk inspired by one he had seen years before. This was my first REAL furniture piece, and it too several years while I made templates and invented wooden full extension drawer glides.

In 2001, I was given the opportunity to have it back! Rober had died and his daughter sotred it in her New Jersey basement. The water heater had sprung a leak, and it had sat in two inches of water for days while she was away.
I had it created and shipped here to Moon Valley. When I unpacked it, I cried! I used it for awhile in its broken state, and suddenly gave it to my brother to use as sign boards or whatever craft he wanted. To have it cut up, took it over to a friend of his where he lives in SoCal. This woodworker looked it over that evening and promptly told my brother, "It is all here, Tim! Let me put it back together for you!" He did.

The drawers still work like new, and the scratches and gouges of life are showing all the joy and love it intended to become.

It was my first Child so to speak! It is aging as am I.
